About the institute
The Municipal Research Institution «City Development Institute» is the principal research institution within the system of the Kyiv City Council and the Kyiv City State Administration. It conducts scientific research in the fields of economics, informatics, and sociology, contributing to the socio-economic development of the capital of Ukraine.
The institute leverages its extensive experience gained through years of research practice on a wide range of urban economic issues to achieve sustainable and balanced development for the city of Kyiv.
Within the institute, a continuously operating system for monitoring socio-economic problems and the socio-political situation in the city is established, based on the analysis of statistical information and the study of public opinion among the residents of Kyiv.


History
1985
As part of the Scientific and Production Association “City System Technology,” a department for addressing the economic issues of comprehensive development in the national economy of Kyiv was established, as per the decision of the Executive Committee of the Kyiv City Council of People’s Deputies on February 18, 1985, No. 96.
1991
Based on the department, the Research Institute for Socio-Economic Problems of Kyiv (RISEPK Kyiv) was established, according to the order of the Scientific and Production Association “City System Technology” on November 12, 1990, No. 212.
1992
RISEPK Kyiv was designated as the primary scientific organization in the city for conducting scientific research on the socio-economic development of Kyiv, as per the directive of the Representative of the President of Ukraine on May 29, 1992, No. 388.
1993
The Center for Environmental Information Technologies was merged with RISEPK Kyiv, according to the directive of the Representative of the President of Ukraine on January 18, 1993, No. 49.
1997
A state municipal enterprise called the “Research Institute for Socio-Economic Problems of the City” (RISEPC) was established based on RISEPK Kyiv, as per the directive of the Kyiv City State Administration on January 16, 1997, No. 35.
2002
A reorganization and renaming of RISEPC into the municipal enterprise “Research Institute for Socio-Economic Problems of the City” (RISEPC) took place, in accordance with the decision of the Kyiv City Council on July 11, 2002, No. 108/108.
2005
The Municipal Research Institution «City Development Institute» was established based on RISEPC, as per the decision of the Kyiv City Council on May 26, 2005, No. 426/3002.
VISION
The Municipal Research Institution «City Development Institute», based on the results of its research on the socio-economic development of the city, formulates proposals for the most effective and thoughtful solutions to pressing issues that concern society here and now.
Addressing the cultural, social, economic, and political dimensions of public life, RISEDC employs efficient analytical tools to examine key contemporary events and their connections with the factors and institutions shaping the modern world.


MAIN ACTIVITIES
Primary Directions:
Conduction of scientific research on various aspects of the socio-economic, demographic, informational, ecological, and other aspects of the development of the city of Kyiv.
Preparation of expert-analytical assessments regarding the strategic directions of Kyiv’s development, improving the investment climate, and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
Conduction of expert analysis of legislative acts and measures aimed at improving the efficiency of managing the development of Kyiv.
Development and technological support of information-analytical systems for effective city management.
Scientific support for the implementation of the city’s image policy and international projects.
Organization and conduction of scientific-communicative events to address relevant issues in the development of Kyiv.
ACADEMIC COUNCIL
The Academic Council of the Institute determines prospective directions for scientific and research activities, conducts scientific evaluation of research topics and results, and reviews and approves current plans for scientific research. The quantitative composition of the Institute’s Academic Council consists of 11 members.
